Manager, Business Development (Law)

Experience Level: Mid

The GLG Law Business Development Manager will work with the team to address our law firm clients’ expert witness needs. Managers are responsible for primarily phone-based outreach and relationship development, while working alongside members of Client Solutions teams to drive opportunities start to finish, culminating with increased adoption and usage of GLG’s services across national and global client accounts. We take pride that attorneys from the world’s top law firms, consultancies and government agencies find us when they need the very best experts for consulting work, high-stakes litigation, and business development needs. Our team is looking for enthusiastic and driven managers to join the Law Business Development team. Our clients are some of the busiest and most sophisticated professionals in the world. The role requires the confidence to contact associates and partners at leading law firms and leading government and enforcement lawyers, and the tenacity to repeatedly follow up to sell our services and win the business.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Full-cycle sales – including but not limited to sourcing leads, performing various types of outreach, and pitching GLG’s business model
  • Create and manage phone and email campaigns to connect with existing and prospective users
  • Partnering with senior members of the Client Solutions team to develop and deliver nuanced expert solutions for GLG’s law firm and in-house counsel clients
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of legal market, as well as the macro business environment, disseminating relevant content to the rest of the team as appropriate
  • Collaborating with colleagues on and across teams to build and shape the business​
  • Building account plans and setting account growth objectives.
  • Obtaining in-person (or virtual) meetings existing and prospective users across the organization to obtain strategic information about the client, provide updates on GLG offerings and drive client-wide adoption of GLG Law
  • Contributing to and where appropriate spearheading key strategic initiatives established by GLG leadership
  • Business Development Managers may also, depending on experience, interest, and team need, be placed in a position of management over entry level Business Development Associates in a supervisory and people leader capacity.

  • 3+ years of professional sales experience is required, preferably in law or professional services

For this specific position, the following factors will strengthen an applicant’s candidacy:

  • Bachelors or higher degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • Superior communication skills, including oral, written, and presentation abilities
  • Confidence in making outbound cold calls​
  • Receptive to coaching and feedback​
  • Demonstrated commitment, judgment, emotional maturity, and intensity, ideally in a fast-paced, multi-task-oriented environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and hustle attitude
  • Comfortable using PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Salesforce experience is a plus, but not required
  • Entrepreneurial zeal and deep desire to build a business
  • Understanding, awareness and/or interest in the legal industry but not a necessary prerequisite

Compensation: GLG is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. Certain roles may also be eligible for incentive compensation.

The anticipated hiring base salary range for this role is:
$64,800$85,000 USD
