The Final Frontier of Oil and Gas Exploration

Robert Pascoe discusses the current state of oil reserves and what will be required to replace depleting reserves in the future. He explains how technology has enabled U.S. tight oil and why oil and gas technology is the final frontier of gas exploration.

Robert Pascoe is the President of Leopard Energy, a Houston-based E&P start-up, formed in March 2012 as one of the Dynamic Group of Companies to explore frontier and emerging plays in the Western Hemisphere. Here he formed a non-executive board and agreed strategy. Until 2011, he worked at BHP Petroleum for 12 years, most recently as VP exploration (Western Hemisphere). At BHP, he was responsible for executing existing exploration business and growth in North & South America and West Africa. From 2006 to 2010, he was VP Global New Ventures and a Member of Exploration Leadership team. From 2001 to 2005, he was Atlantic Exploration Manager, leading operated exploration in Brazil, T&T, South Africa and Gabon. He captured acreage, delivered breakthrough regional concepts and developed new plays. From 1999-2001, he was Chief Geologist, where he had global functional accountability for 120 geoscientists. Before, he spent 17 years at Conoco Inc in many roles including Chief Geologist for Angola and Gulf of Mexico. Rob served on the advisory panel to the board of WHL Energy Ltd. (2012) and has been a member of the advisory board at the Energy & Geoscience Institute at the University of Utah since 2007.
